So what is Technorati?

These are what I can gather after reading their About page. Technorati is really a search engine for blog tracking — a good competitor is Google Blog Search. It searches through all the blog listed in Technorati for latest, related keywords: they claimed to have more than 80 million blogs that they track so this could be a better alternative to Google Blog Search (if you counted out the spam blogs or splogs).

So when one of this blogs is being updated, depending on how the blog is setup; it will send a ping or a notification to Technorati that a new post has been published, and also will tell Technorati some basic post information such as keywords and tags. Technorati will then add this post to every search that matches the keywords or the post tags.

Simple eh? Smart too.
