thinking of eos40d
Current thought: EOS 40D.

Major Canon EOS 40D Features
- Increased efficiency 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor with larger microlenses
- Large 3.0-inch LCD display with broadened color gamut
- Live View
- 6.5 frame-per-second continuous shooting capability (3fps also available)
- At 6.5fps, the buffer holds around 75 Large/Fine JPEGs or 17 RAW images
- At 3fps the buffer holds around 205 Large/Fine JPEGs or 20 RAW images
- New AF system with 9 cross type sensors
- Enhanced precision center AF zone for lenses f2.8 and faster.
- 14-bit A/D conversion with Digic III processor
- New quieter mirror/shutter assembly
- Highlight Tone Priority
- High-ISO Noise Reduction
- Integrated Self-Cleaning Sensor Unit
- Larger (0.95x) optical viewfinder magnification (30D is 0.90x)
- Interchangeable focusing screens
- Continuous display of ISO in viewfinder
- Auto ISO mode
- ISO 100-1600 plus “H” (3200) (same as 30D)
- Powered by BP-511A, BP-511, or BP-512 lithium-ion battery pack
- Stores images on CF cards

We compared this to the previous low end prosumer DSLR from Canon:
* Improved low light noise reduction
* Easier to get autofocus and sharper even in low lights conditions
* We noticed that the CF compartment is water proof — this is very practical and critical (so that you dont get a bad CF that got all the snaps destroyed, due to moisture)
* Live view is with autofocus (needs to set, but this is fine), eventhough autofocus auto mode on LV should be a stadnard feature
* Quite heavy!
good news ituu…
mr zeno,
DLSRs, Canon EOS VS Nikon D60 VS Sony alpha
apa kah pendapat anda
assuming the three contenders are: caon eos rebel xsi (450d), nikon d60 and sony alpha350, my ratings would be: 1st — eos rebel xsi as all round camera, 2nd — nikon d60, best for non-begineers, 3rd — sony alpha 350, best for beginners
purely based on reading the reviews from magazines, and also online.
btw, between 450d and 40d, clearly 40d is the choice for me :-) strange that canon introduced 450d in jan 08; while 40d was back in q3 07.

I feel funny taking pictures with a compact camera. The bigger one takes better pictures, and with full control.
Since Sony Alpha is good for beginners, I think I’ll look up for that one lah. I was aiming for the Nikon d60 but since my friend already had that one, I will try other brand; Sony.
I wonder if there’s any quality difference of the pictures taken by different cameras / brands
Maybe not so much on the camera or brands (contrary to what the manufactures’ stands are), and would probably involve these:
- not the usual expected (boring photos)
- good contrast and color i.e. natural light is better than flash, take photos with the right lighting i.e. early morning or evening vs under harsh sunlight
- dynamic photos, natural and not so much of “acted”
- simple photo, less clutter is better so you can project your subject
- sharp, focus on / crop the subject you want to show
- actually even blurry photo is good, if there is a story that is well told behind it.
Most people would probably say the same thing …so I guess, the key is to have photos that can tell a story. I think, that’s are the great elements of making a good quality photo.
Technical qualities: hmmm inda tau la, banyak betul comparison between different brands/model out there. For me, will stick to one and try to learn and be better at having photos that tell stories.

I just read about all the rumours of 50D coming out by early next yr; and even more rumours about 60D by end of 2009! So 70D will be the next one too? hahaha
Probably 40D is the best for learners like us … *decision*decision*
