Trying out the newly activated Maxis 3G card at Sarah’s parents home in Tempasuk 1, Kota Belud.

There is still no 3G Maxis coverage in Kota Belud, so the connection was on GPRS (yes, that dial-up speed). Maybe this will stay for a long time as Maxis is being left behind by the other ISP, Celcom.

While the estimated numbers of Maxis 3G subscribers are probably double than Celcom, their (Maxis, that is) 3G connectivity is lagging way behind: slower upload and download speed when compared to Celcom, in fact the speed is staggeringly slow, at half of Celcom’s 3G speed. So what’s going on Maxis? I dont think you will say that the slower speed is due to more users??? Unless all the 3G users of Maxis are downloading/uploading heavy grafix at the same time!

So till then, lets hope that Ananda K is buying Maxis to improve this 3G network speed; not just to further get all the Maxis users send their SMS votes to Akademi Fantasia - Hotlink.
